Golden Repair

I made this illustration with my character Mia, in which we see an unknown side of her. The golden marks on her bones are actually fracture scars, for she has an unusual condition that makes her very fragile.

In the illustration I wanted to represent those scars with golden as 'Kintsugi', which is a Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. It's said that this treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, instead of seeing it as something that should be hidden from the world.

I used Procreate for this, and I love the automatic sped-up process video it creates!
